Dr Hughes in Puerto Rico

Dr. Hughes Receives Implant Training in Puerto Rico

I (Dr. Hughes) have been traveling once a month to Puerto Rico to further my surgical training in dental implantology and oral reconstruction.  The time commitment is quite large, I'm in Perto Rico almost an entire week out of every month for 10 months!  That's why we are now currently seeing patients on Fridays.  However, the skills, knowledge and insights I gain from this advanced training are incalcuable, and are of tremendous benefit to those I serve, and will serve.  The course is like a regular residency except greatly accelerated and designed for practitioners who have been out of school for a while and already have significant experience in implant dentistry.  I am one of only three doctors selected for the program.

The training is intensenly focused on live surgery with follow-up case discussion and lectures.  Most of our time is spent watching, assisting, or actually doing surgery from 9:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. and sometimes even later.  All cases are done using I.V. sedation.  We are given advanced training in this area too, and one of us usually does the I.V. sedation for each surgery.  The best part though is being trained by one of the most skilled, experienced, and esteemed Implant surgeons in the world, Dr. Hilt Tatum!!!  Dr. Tatum pioneered and developed a lot of the essential techniques of modern implant dentistry which are now taught by other "experts" throughout the world, another great benefit is to our patients.  Since we do live surgery with master supervision, we may invite patients to come down to perform implant or implant related surgeries on them in Puerto Rico.  Since it is considered a "learning" environment the fees have been drastically reduced!!

In many cases it is less expensive to travel to Puerto Rico, stay and have a mini-vacation, get the surgery done and still come out ahead compared to the regular fees in the U.S.  If you or someone you know needs dental implant(s) or related surgeries like: sinus augmentation, bone grafting/regeneration, etc., please contact us immediately to find out if you/they may qualify.  The space and time is very limited and the program ends this October.  There is more information on the web at www.tatumsurgical.com.
